Ninja Turtles Plot

There's a remake of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ahead of us. The remake is simply titled "Ninja Turtles". Director Jonathan Liebesman (who brought us Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans) is helming the project for Paramount. The release date of Ninja Turtles is set for December 25, 2012. Here's a short plot synopsis of the film:

Plot:
"Aliens invade Earth and inadvertently spawn a quartet of mutated reptile warriors, the Ninja Turtles, who rise up against them to defend the world."

A few words from Michael Bay who's producing the film:

"The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans."

Ninja Turtles Delayed

reports rolled in that Paramount had put the planned live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (titled Ninja Turtles) on “indefinite” hold, citing issues with the script. It’s a pretty easy-to-swallow idea, given the very passionate (overall, very negative) fan response to producer Michael Bay’s revelation earlier this year – namely, his announcement that the project re-imagines the Turtles as pure extraterrestrials.

However, sources close to the production have refuted the claims about Ninja Turtles being temporarily shelved, insisting it has instead been merely delayed from December 2013 to May 2014 release date. Whether or not the rumors of script problems are likewise inaccurate – that’s another matter.
